Japanese handheld system with a dot matrix display that predates the Game Boy, although it's not the first hand held video game system ever made (that distinction goes to the Milton Bradly Microvision.)
Epoch was a famous Japanese maker of LCD games (and today still makes a few along with video-game related action figures, cards, merchandise, etc.) I bet if they knew back in 1984 how successful Nintendo's machine would be a few years later they would have thrown more weight behind their own.
Has at least 4 carts, including a shooter, puzzle game, and a paint type program. System looks pretty simple by today's standards. There might be some built in software on this machine (ala games, calculator, or personal orgaizer software.) More info on this is needed.
Pretty hard to find, I've never seen one up for auction on Ebay or Yahoo Auctions Japan. To get weird Jap shit your best bet is to make friends with someone on a bulletin board or something, then pay him to find it for you. Or else fly there yourself.
