AMIGA CD TV

Before PCs became the standard Amiga Computers were the shit . They could do crap that no other computers in the world seemed capable of doing. The Amiga CDTV was the worlds first CD based game console. Looking somewhat like a VCR, it was basically an Amiga 500 with a CD-ROM that you sat on top of your TV and played games with. The disadvantages were that it did not come standard with the infared keyboard and mouse, whereupon most Amiga users decided to wait for a CD add-on to their normal Amiga computers instead. Back in the early 90's the whole CD rom thing was a big deal, like CDs were invented by God himself and handed down as a "new form of media" and other such buzzwords. Unfortunately media buzz is not enough to sell a console. Much of the software consisted of standard computer adventure games with lots of voice or music and not much else. The system flopped pretty bad, was followed by the (somewhat) more successful Amiga CD 32. Problem was developers weren't sure that CD was a viable medium for software. They couldn't have been more wrong.
