Hey folks, what we have here appears to be a Playstation 1 clone from out of (where else?) China. And a pretty nice one by the looks of it. It also appears that the machine is also Famicom compatible, but Mr. French said the unit stopped working before he could test that. Who says all pirates can make are junk famiclones?

The machine also plays music CDs, MP3s, compatible with MP4, and VCDs, which is no suprise becasue recently Asia had this whole VCD craze going on as they're easier to copy than DVDs.

From Mr. French's e-mail:

"The instruction manual just gives general instructions for the operation of the unit.  It states that Divx3.x and Divx4.x at a resolution no greater than 352x288 can be used.
At the rear of the unit there are 8 ports, DC in 8v, two 9pin joystick ports, video out, audio out left & right and 2 USB ports.  I never managed to get anything to work in the USB ports, maybe they can be used like PSX memory cards, or for keyboard or mouse???  Nothing in the manual about USB apart from a diagram showing where they are.
Down the right hand side there is a power on/off switch a headphone socket and a volume control.

At the front is the IF sensor for the remote control.

On top of the unit is a release button for the CD lid, a round button with play/pause, fast forward, rewind and stop.  Six button are just below the LCD display these are SLOW, OSD, L/R, REP, PBC, P/N.

The joypads are just like a Playstations apart from the flashing leds and the 9pin plugs.  the remote control is like most Japanese VCD/DVD remotes, nothing special really. "

Very incredible indeed. If these machines were made out of stuff that didn't fail so easily they would be worth having.
